Where does love fit in when you're trying to overthrow the government? That is the leading question of Resist, the second book of the Resistance Series by my good friend, author Tracy Lawson. A few weeks ago, I had a chance to interview Tracy about the romantic element of her YA series. And ove
r the course of the past week, I finally took the opportunity to dive in and read it for myself.
As a fan of Tracy's work (I really enjoyed the foundation she set with book one, Counteract), I was thrilled to be thrown right into the action at the start, as Tommy, Careen, and a great team of supporting characters continue their battle against a tyrannical government. Lawson has done a great job writing in the YA genre, as well as the dystopian setting. She's created a vivid and believable world, which also adds to the reader's ability to relate to her characters.
Neither did the book disappoint me as a fan of romance and all things related to love. The relationship between Tommy and Careen is very tastefully and realistically drawn for characters of their age. But it is far from boring! with equal parts young adult angst and the tender emotion that builds as their feelings for each other intensify, readers will find themselves wanting Tommy and Careen to win not only their fight for society, but for each other. Their love story has just as many twists and turns as the main plot line, with triumphs and frustrations alike.
So, where does their love fit in? Read to find out! There's still time to enter the Goodreads giveaway for Resist through today! And be sure to pick up Counteract in the meantime so you don't miss one bit of Tommy's and Careen's adventure!
